A small library.
A clear source for every book.
BookFinder helps you find free full-text editions and open textbooks. You search our imported catalog, then get the book at its original source. No reader account, checkout, or paid-book suggestions.
What is in the library
86 real editions imported on 2026-10-08. This is a curated subset, not the providers’ entire searchable catalogs.
Project Gutenberg 68 editions
Selected classics from approved per-book RDF. EPUB and text availability come from the catalog; buttons open canonical edition pages under the provider policy.
Source documentationStandard Ebooks 15 editions
The public new-release Atom feed. The full feed needs additional access. Language stays unspecified where the source does not provide it.
Source documentationOpen Textbook Library 3 editions
Creative Commons textbooks with zero-price PDF entries. Direct file buttons appear only after content-type and file-signature checks.
Source documentationWhat counts as free access
A result needs source-specific evidence of a complete free edition. A metadata match alone is insufficient. Borrow-only, preview-only, paid and unknown-access records are excluded. Download buttons require a permitted file link that passed a bounded check; Get free book opens the source listing.
Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks describe public-domain status in the United States. Rights vary by country. Open textbooks retain their individual Creative Commons terms. Books remain source-hosted.
Link checks
25/37 bounded checks returned healthy evidence as of 2026-10-08T10:43:15.351Z. 0 broken, 11 inconclusive and 1 HTML responses instead of files. 68 Gutenberg pages were not probed under their robot policy. This describes tested links, not every file.
Search & edition limits
Indexed Unicode-normalized word-prefix search, up to 12 words and 160 characters. No fuzzy search or runtime crawling. ISBN lookup covers only source-supplied textbook ISBNs. Editions and translations stay separate.
Other sources reviewed
Open Library was evaluated for cached metadata comparison; it is never proof of a free download and is not our search backend. OpenStax was evaluated; this release uses Open Textbook Library and publisher PDFs instead.
Manual reproducible catalog updates. No embedded readers, AI summaries or scheduled crawlers.
